With 29 colleges graduating and two major conventions
going on, there were no hotel rooms to be found in Boston - so we improvised
and chartered "Out of the Woods" a 40' boat in the
Constitution Marina.
The night of his famous ride Paul Revere landed his rowboat just behind us.
The British ships were at anchor about where we slept at night.

Even the on again, off again rain didn't dampen the
spirits of the crew. We never took her out, but we did have nine
people on board for dessert and coffee with plenty of room.
There's Austin in his New England Patriots sweatshirt.

You could sink into the sofas. Down the
companionway to the master stateroom. |
 |
 |
Plenty of seating. TV, VCR, Stereo, all of the creature
comforts. |
|
With two staterooms, two full heads, a full galley,
and a large salon, we had it made in the shade. |

We were in the marina right next to the USS
Constitution aka "Old Ironsides". It's hull is actually
made of wood, but a British captain was said to have exclaimed,
"Her sides are made of iron!" when his cannon balls bounced
off the 16" hull. |
Austin at the helm of the Constitution.
He's bringing her
around to broadside Jordan! |

Still operational and she is manned by the US Navy. |

Those cannon balls sure are heavy. |

 |
Boarding is a whole lot easier these days.

| The night pictures don't do it justice, but the memorial
at Bunker Hill looks just like the Washington Monument, because the
Washington Monument was made to look just like the memorial at Bunker
Hill. By the way, we lost that battle. |

It's hard to hold a camera still on a boat, at night, in
the rain, but that lighted spire is the Old North Church where it was
one if by land and two if by sea.
This shot is through the forward windows of our boat. Cool! |
