For a day of great fun, there is not much that is better than Marine World in nearby Vallejo.

Not only is this the group that went, but it was thanks to Mark and Maria that we were able to go.  Mark had traded some limousine rental time for tickets, so we attended as their guests.

Austin, Marie's mom, me peeking over the top, Mark, the baby is Maddie, Maria, Dennis, and Austin.

Mark and Maria's daughter Maddie just loves to be held by Austin.  He is about the only person other than her parents that she reaches for every time she sees him.
It was a hot day, but we did not mind.  There were plenty of ways to cool off.  If you didn't want to stand in line for the water ride, you could just stand on the bridge and get wet.
Those are people hanging off to the right of the tower.  This ride will launch riders to speeds of up to 70 mph in less than four seconds.

Thrill-seekers rocket forward and backward, straight up and straight back down two 150-foot vertical sky towers

That screaming set of legs in the circle is Jordan.  He rode this one four times.
Austin and Jordan grimace for a photograph.  They would rather be riding the rides.

That is part of Medusa in the background.

The floorless design of Medusa's supercoaster allows riders to experience the feel of flying, as we soared over the 150 foot first drop and travel at 65 mph with legs dangling! Medusa has over 4,000 feet of track and seven inversions.

Austin, Glenn, and Jordan go for another ride.

Marine World is not just fun rides.  It has many land and water animals.  Dolphins, sharks, elephants, giraffes and several others.  At special times of day you can feed the giraffe.
One hump or two, camels were there as well.

I don't have a photo, but the Bengal tigers were in their cages with their trainers and a visitor had won a very large stuffed animal.  One of the tigers was stalking it as it was carried through the exhibit.  Lucky for the stuffed animal and its owner, there is a strong cage.

The butterfly habitat is hot, humid, and a little stale.  Just what a butterfly or a moth like this one would want.
With only the grass from the thatched roof underneath it for size comparison, this moth is about 10 inches wide.  The diamond shapes are actually clear, although the camera makes them look opaque.
I'm not sure if this bird is in the butterfly habitat to keep the insect population down or if he does not eat such bugs.  He was very pretty and unusual.
The habitat is completely enclosed and also is home to a lovely pond.
Everybody loves balloons.  It looks like this vendor will lift off the ground at any moment.
Thankfully we did not win all of these stuffed animals.  The Pooh bear is like what the tiger stalked.
