When asked what one thing they would absolutely want to see
in New York, both boys said the same thing - the Statue of Liberty.
Austin and Jordan ascend into Liberty's crown.
And we all made it to the top. That's a big smile
coming from Austin around Jordan's shoulder.
The original flame had been cut into a grid with amber colored
glass panels inserted. Unfortunately it leaked and caused corrosion. A replica of the original solid flame was
made for the restoration. The original is on display in the pedestal
under Liberty.

We were not able to find documentation about our family
who arrived in 1887, but that would have been two years before Ellis
Island was opened for immigrants.
